Cartier Santos Dumont

Cartier first developed the Santos (in an edition of one) for Alberto Santos-Dumont, a dapper Brazilian socialite and daredevil who in 1901 was the first to fly around the Eiffel Tower in a dirigible he had built himself.

This is one of the first men's wristwatches and the perfect marriage of form and function. The Santos's then-revolutionary square shape was a stylized view of the Eiffel Tower from directly above. The screws that held the bezel in place were an homage to the industrial age and echoed the feet of the giant Erector Set monument.

This Santos came in new conditions, whit all the set and still under house warranty.
